Lucky Duck - Cricut Cardz Challenge #63

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all my new followers and all of you who have congratulated me on my recent engagement. Your comments always make me smile =0)  It has been a while since I've participated in a challenge and I certainly have missed it!  I know I should be finishing up the invitations I'm working on but I needed to take a little break.  I decided to play along this week over at cricutcardzchallenge.blogspot.com  The challenge this week was to make a St. Patrick's Day card or project, however, no shamrocks were allowed in the design.  It was a little challenging since pretty much everyone associates the two. So I really had to give this one some thought and this is what I came up with.  I had wanted to use this little duck for sometime now and was planning to do so for either a spring or Easter project.  Then I thought hmmm...what about a lucky duck for St. Patrick's Day!  I just love ducks they are so cute!!  I decided to go with that and here are the specifics:

Cartridges Used:
Gypsy Wanderings: Card Base @ 4.90"(welded two tags together) & Layer @ 4.40"
Just Because Cards: Duck & layers @ 6.25"
Disney -  Mickey Font: Lucky Duck @ 0.65"
Paper Dolls Dressup: Top Hat @ 2.60"
3 Birds on Parade: Horseshoe @ 5.00"

Supplies used:
Solid cardstock: Recollections
Patterned Paper: My stash
Rhinestones: Michaels Dollar Section
Ribbon: Michaels
Gold Gel Pen
Chalks

2 New Awards and some babble

Hi everyone,

Sorry that I have been a little out of touch this past week. It has just been a whirlwind of events for me since Valentine’s Day. All is good, in fact all is great! My boyfriend of 2 ½ years proposed to me on Valentine’s Day! He surprised me when he gave me the ring that I had my heart set on. We had looked at rings over a year ago and he remembered the one I had fallen in love with. Unfortunately, the ring while beautiful and very expensive was not a good choice :0( The first one, the one that he gave me on Valentine’s Day within 4 hours a stone fell out! The next day he exchanged it and was given another one, upon inspecting it I realized it had some white/frosted spots within the main stone…arghhh! So we decided to return the ring altogether and look elsewhere. After looking around for a few days and visiting several different jewelry stores. I’m happy to say that not only did I find a more beautiful ring; it was also much less expensive. So that means more money for paper crafting and Cricut Cartridges...lol! Hey, at least I have my priorities straight :0) I also have been busy making my very first custom order; I am making invitations for a Sweet Sixteen. I will be posting the pictures in a day or two. In the meantime, I wanted to take a moment and thank two very talented ladies for their generosity and awarding me the “Liebster Award”! The Liebster Love Blog award is designed to recognize bloggers who have less than 300 followers but whose work deserves gigantic praise.

Olive You Card

Hey everyone,
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  I have been very busy making last minute Valentine's Day projects.  Today I made this card for my cousin to give to her boyfriend.  She wanted something very simple with red, black & white.  This is what I came up with and I really like the way it turned out ...she did too!  Not sure if you can tell in the pic but the top layer of the martini glass is a piece of the plastic casing that the ciruct cartridges come in. I cut the plastic casing flat, removing all the sides and ran it through my cricut for the image. This was the first time I had tried this and I'm glad I did. It gave the image the effect that it was glass.  I used my regular cricut blade and used a pressure of 6.  I did have to run it through twice since the first time it didn't cut all the way through.  So glad that I saved those plastic casings!  So here is a list of all the items used:

The card is 5x7
  • Plastic Packaging  from Cricut Cartridges
  • Carts Used: Nifty Fifties (Martini & Layers @ 4.75") and Doodlecharms (Heart - Pimento @1.25")
  • Solid & Metallic Paper: Recollections
  • Jim Holtz Distress Ink: Peeled Paint
  • Sizzix Embossing Folder
  • Xyron Machine
  • DecoArt: Glamour Dust in Crystal
  • Ribbon: Joann's Valentine Section
  • Sentiment: Computer Generated
  • EK Success: "Shimmering Pink Hearts" - Mini Hearts on Sentiment

Hugs & Kisses Card

Hi Everyone,
In the past few days I have seen so many cards and projects with lips, I decided to make one too.  I tried to keep it really simple since I wanted to have the lips be the focal point.  Not sure if you can tell in the photo but I used Glossy Accents on the lips and it looks like they have lip gloss on, which I think gives it a really cool effect :0) Here are the items I used:
  • Carts used: A Child's Year (Card @ 5.5") and Sweethearts (Lips @ 2.60"and Sentiment @ 1.75")
  • Solid cardstock: Recollections
  • EK Success "Shimmering Pink Hearts"
  • Glossy Accents
  • White Gel Pen
  • Ribbon: Michael's

Cicut Cardz Challenge #59

Hey everyone,
Hope you are all having a wonderful week. Today, I wanted to share with all of you a card I made for the challenge over at www.cricutcardzchallenge.com The theme was to make a Valentine project for a child. I had wanted to use this cute little love bug image from the Create a Critter Cartridge for some time now. So, I decided to go with that… it’s just so darn cute! All the images on this card were cut from the Create a Critter cartridge and I used my Gypsy. However, I did alter the flowers a bit by snipping them off and replacing them with hearts. I also did the same for the bug’s antennae. I really like the way it turned out and hope you all like it too =0)
So here are the items I used for my card:

  • Card Size: 5 x 7 (all layers are cut ¼” smaller on all sides
  • Cartridge: Create a Critter (Bug @ 4”, Wording @ 2”, Flowers @ 2.40” and Hearts @ 0.90” & 0.75”)
  • Solid cardstock: Recollections
  • Patterned Paper: K & Company (KP Valentine)
  • Stickles (Diamond & Christmas Red)
  • Embellishments: Recollections Mini Ladybug Stickers (Found this at Michaels, only 0.99 cents!)
  • White Gel Pen
