Masculine Birthday Card

Hi crafty friends,

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend! Today, I wanted to share a masculine birthday card that I made for one of my best friends.  While I enjoyed making the card, I did struggle a bit at first with an idea. Masculine cards are a little difficult for me. But hey....I figured that I could sure use the practice. So, I started by picking a patterned paper through my stash that had masculine colors. I came across this one that had been so generously given to me by my cousin from one of her paper stacks. Which by the way, she has now become my papercrafting buddy!!  I really created a "monster" here...lol  We are constantly trading papers back & forth to each other, we are like little kids....but we love it :0) Anyway, rambling on here..lol  I picked out this paper and then started to get ideas from it. Since the paper had party hats on it, I decided to go with that type of image as my cut.  I used the Celebrations cartridge for the party hat.  I knew I also wanted to make a shaped card, so I decided to use a cut from Elegnt Edges cartridge.  I really love this cart! I used my Gypsy to weld the two shadow cuts together for my card base.  Overall, I like the way the card turned out, however, I know I sure need more practice when it comes to masculine cards.  So here is the complete list of the materials I used...
  • Cartridges used: Elegant Edges (card base @ 5", layer @ 4.75") & Celebrations (Party Hat & Layers @ 4")
  • Solid Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper "Handsome", "French Vanilla" and  Two Scoops "Mint Chip" which comes embossed.
  • Patterned paper: Paper Stash
  • Sentiment: Michael's Dollar Section
  • Embossing power: Stampendous "Jeweled Gold"
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink: "Tea Dye" lightly around edges of party hat
  • Gold Gel Pen
  • Gold Rhinestone: Michael's Dollar Section
  • Pop Dots
Thanks for stopping by :0)

Hugs,
Diana

Cricut-tastic Award!

First, I'd like to send a big apology to Patty at www.craftykitten1.blogspot.com. And Lisa at www.prettypaperprettyribbons.blogspot.com. They were both so generous in awarding me the Cricut-tastic Award. Yet, I have been a bit of a slacker to getting around to this. The month of May has just been crazy for me!! So I do apologize ladies :0) It's always a wonderful feeling to open up your email and find that someone took the time out of their busy schedule to acknowledge your work! I am truly grateful and humbled by their generosity. If you have not checked out their blogs, you really should because you are missing out! Both ladies are truly fantastic!!

So, here are the rules for this award:
Wear this badge proudly on your blog and share it with friends.
Share this award with 10 people that you think have Cricut-tastic blogs.
You also have to tell 5 cricut related things about yourself.
So here goes...
1) I purchased my Cricut Expression in the Fall of 2009 on Ebay, after seeing countless infomercials on late night t.v.
2) After my Cricut Expression arrived it sat in my closet un-opened for 3 months!! Can you believe that?!
3) I received my Gypsy as a gift from my boyfriend about 9 months ago and I never leave home without it!!
4) I am constantly updating my Cricut Cartridge Library :0)
5)

I'd like to share this award with the following great bloggers…they truly are great in their own unique way!

Valerie of http://whostolemyscissors.blogspot.com/.

Design Team Call - Crafting with Cristina

Hello Everyone,
Hope you are all having a great Friday evening! I wanted to share with all of you a card that I made specifically for a Design Team Call over on Cristina's Blog www.craftingwithcristina.com. While visiting her blog last weekend, I saw that she was having a Design Team Call.  Needless to say, I was super excited!! I have never been on a Design Team but have always wanted to be on one ever since I discovered they existed!  What a great opportunity it would be to work along so many other crafty individuals and get to share your own crafty creations with others as well. Just a few weeks ago I was in 2 blog hops and I must say I was hooked! So I know making a special project for a challenge blog as a Design Team Member on a weekly or bi-weekly basis would be totally awesome!  Gee, did I just give away that I'm a child of the 80's...lol.  Well, here is my card.  I decided to make a Birthday card because well...it seems you never have one ready whenever you need one.  Plus, I have a few birthdays coming up soon so I figured it will definitely get used.  I just got the Elegant Edges Cartridge a few weeks ago and I knew I had to use it for this card.  So here are the specifics:

*Elegant Edges Cartridge: My cardbase is @ 5.65" (I used my Gypsy to weld together). I used the "Frame Feature" and cut the frame @ 5.00".  I really love this feature, so many ideas are coming to mind already!
*Gypsy Wanderings: Sentiment @2.85" (used the shadow feature) and Flowers cut @ 1.50" & 1.00" (used the hide feature on my Gypsy)
*Solid Cardstock: Card base (Bazzill -French Vanilla) & Recollections (Yellow & Pink)
*Patterned Paper: Doodlebug
*Pearl Embellishments: Recollections
*Chalks
*White Gel Pen

I really liked the way it turned out, hope you all like it too :0)  Wish me luck and I will keep you updated.

Cupcakes & Butterflies - Birthday Party

Hi everyone,
I hope you aIl had a great week and are having a wonderful weekend...so far :0) I have been trying to get these pics posted for the past few days but Blogger has been having some problems so it has taken me awhile.  I have been wanting to share with all of you the pictures of some of the projects I did for my cousin's birthday party. The theme for her party started out as "cupcakes" but then somehow "butterflies" were added in at the last minute.  But overall, it came together nicely and the birthday girl was very happy.

So this first pic is of her invitations that I made for her. We had so much fun assembling the invitations together.

Here are the specifics of the invitations:

*Cartridge used: Sweet Treats (welded the shadow feature with my Gypsy to make card base)
*Solid Cardstock: Recollections
*Patterned Paper: Recollections "Pink Plaid"
*Cuttlebug Embossing Folder: Divine Swirls
*Xyron Machine
*Martha Stewart Glitter: Tourmaline
*Stickles: Star Dust
*Ribbon: Michael's
*White Gel Pen

Next up is the banner I made for her,

Here are the specifics of the banner:

*Cartridges used: Birthday Bash (Letters & Scalloped Circles) Plantin Schoolbook: (Circles) and Create a Critter (Butterflies)
*Solid cardstock: Recollections
*Patterned Paper: Recollections
*Ribbon: Michael's
*Mini Flower Punch - Accents on butterflies
*Stickles: Waterfall
*White Gel Pen

Here is a picture of the Dessert/Cake Table

There were so many yummy treats!! She had mini-cupcakes and the frame that you see on the table held the menu of the different flovored cupcakes. She also had chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered pretzels, and chocolate covered oreo's.  Along with the candies and the mini orange-pineapple upside down cakes, she had her birthday cake that resembled a cupcake.  Everything was soooooo good!!!

Well I hope you all enjoyed my post and I am working on some new projects at the moment.  Hopefully, I can get them posted tomorrow.  Till then :0)

Challenge Me Monday #56 - Do the Bunny Hop

Hello everyone!

Hope you are all doing great and having a great week so far. Today, I wanted to share a card I made for the challenge over at http://www.fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com/. The challenge this week was to make any project with either a bunny or a chick. So I decided to make a card that represented both. Ever since I bought the “3 Birds on Parade” cartridge, I have wanted to use this cut. I think this particular cut is soooo stinking cute! But really, what cut on this cart isn’t? I will definitely need to use this cart and a few others a little more often. Ahhh, so many cartridges and so little time…lol! I will also be giving this card to my cousin for Easter, which is why I used a lot of pink (her favorite color). Like the sentiment states, she is one of my favorite peeps :0) So here are specifics of my card.

*Carts used: Card Base (Birthday Bash), Bunny Chick (3 Birds on Parade), Doodlecharms (Eggs & Basket) and Accent Essentials (Sentiment Tag)
*Solid Cardstock: Recollections
*Patterned Paper: Doodlebug “Pink Lemonade”
*Cuttlebug: Not sure the name of the folder, used it for the basket.
*All Ribbons: Michael’s
*Stickles: Diamond, Waterfall, Yellow, Lime Green & Cotton Candy (I LOVE STICKLES!!)
*Punch: Fiskars Mini Flower
*Embellishments: Recollections - Mini Pearl
*Sentiment: Jo Ann’s Dollar Section

Hello crafty friends,
Today I wanted to share with all of you one of the few projects I have been working on for my cousin’s upcoming birthday party. She decided to go with a “Cupcake” theme for her birthday. So of course, it only made sense to use one of my favorite cartridges “Sweet Treats”. So here is the first project that I will be sharing with all of you. I made this layout for her using some of the pattern paper we had left over from the banner I am currently working on. I will be posting the invitations and the banner at a later time, so stay tuned. I really like the way the layout turned out and of course she loved it very much too! So here are specifics.

*Solid Cardstock and Patterned Paper: All Recollections (Kraft 12x12), (Pink Mat 11 ¾ x 11 ¾)
& (PP 11 ½ x 11 ½)
*Cart Used: Sweet Treats - Cake @ 3.60”, Cupcake @ 2.50” & Happy Birthday @ 2.25”

*Embellishment Rhinestone: Recollections
*Baker’s Twine: Martha Stewart (I bought this during Christmas)

Challenge Me Monday #54 - April Showers

Hi everyone,
Hope you all have enjoyed your weekend. Tonight’s post is for a challenge over at www.fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com . This week’s challenge was called “April Showers” and you had to submit a project with either an umbrella or a hat. Like many, I chose to go with the umbrella. My goal lately has been to try and use Cartridges that I have either never used or haven’t used in a long time. I purchased the Mickey & Friends cartridge about 8 or 9 months ago and have not used it once! I decided to use this cartridge because I just loved this particular cut. Plus, I guess you can say I am in a Disney state of mind since I will be going to Disney World this Friday…yay!! It definitely is my “Happy Place” :0)
So here are the specifics of my card:

Card Size: 6 x 6
Carts used: Mickey & Friends (Minnie Mouse), A Child’s Year (Umbrella & raindrops) & Plantin Schoolbook (Grass border)
Solid Cardstock: Recollections
Patterned Paper: K & Company “Berry Sweet”
Sentiment: Stamp from Michael’s Dollar Section
Punch: Mini Flower
Mini Pearls: Recollections
White Gel Pen
Chalks
Glossy Accents on Raindrops
Pop Dots

Thanks again for stopping by!

Baby Shower Card - It's a boy!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post on a card I made for a co-worker’s baby shower that I will be attending this weekend. I really do love the Create a Critter cartridge, there are so many wonderful cuts to use. I decided to use blues and browns for my color palette based on the patterned paper that I wanted to use. The card size is a 5 x 5 and here are the specifics of this super simple card.

Carts used: Create a Critter (Turtle w/layers) and New Arrival (It’s a boy sentiment)
Solid Paper: Recollections
Pattern Paper: DCWV Baby Boy Stack
Xyron Machine
Martha Stewart Glitter: Lapis
Ribbon: Michael’s
White Gel Pen

I won some blog candy and also received 2 new awards!! I won the blog candy from Rae over at www.wahoocrafts.blogspot.com on her achieving 100 followers…CONGRATULATIONS RAE!! I have to say that she has to be one of my favorite crafters out there and she truly inspires me when I am having a difficult time coming up with a design. She is super sweet and you all should definitely check out her blog. Thanks again Rae :0)

I also won two new awards from 2 very talented ladies as well. Laurie of http://scrapsbysissy.blogspot.com/ and Judy of http://www.scrapbookgoddess67.blogspot.com/. Definitely stop by their blogs and check out some of their wonderful projects. THANK YOU so very much ladies for thinking of me when passing along these awards. So upon receiving these awards I must post 7 things about myself and pass it along to 15 other talented crafters. So here goes:

7 Things about myself
1. I was born in the month of October
2. My favorite season is fall. However, since I live in Miami, Florida I do not get to experience it =0(
3. I LOVE to travel, unfortunately I do not get to do it as often as I would like.
4. I LOVE to decorate! I have taken a few Interior Design classes.
